DOST-NCR, PNP-NCRPO Forge Partnership for SIBOL for Communities
The DOST-NCR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Philippine National Police-National Capital Regional Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) last November 10, 2021 at the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City to work together in providing support to communities in Metro Manila through the NCRPO’s Simula ng Isang Bagong Oportunidad sa Lipunan (SIBOL) and DOST-NCR’s Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Programs.
Particularly, the NCRPO’s SIBOL Program aims to communicate their campaign against poverty that NCRPO recognized as a contributory factor to social problems such as crimes, insurgency and illegal drugs. The SIBOL Program is focused on project areas including community organizing, skills development training, livelihood assistance, job and employment opportunities, basic services, youth development and educational assistance, health and medical assistance, barangay caravan.
In accordance to the CEST framework, the DOST-NCR will introduce and infuse science, technology, and innovation-based solutions to the communities adopted by the NCRPO SIBOL.
Present during the official MOU signing were DOST-NCR Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III and PNP-NCRPO Regional Director PMGen Vicente Dupa Danao Jr.
The DOST-NCR and PNP-NCRPO are set to convene with the community leaders assisted through SIBOL.
