DOST-NCR Holds Review Classes for Aspiring DOST Scholars

The Department of Science and Technology- National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) held a series of review classes organized by its four Clustered Areas Science and Technology Offices (CASTOs) to prepare aspiring scholars from NCR for the forthcoming DOST-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) 2025 Undergraduate Scholarship Examination that is scheduled from April 5-6, 2025.
Implemented under its Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) program, the DOST-NCR has been organizing review classes for students from Metro Manila schools in collaboration with the University of the Philippines-Los Baลos DOST Scholars Society who serve as mentors for the review classes. DOST-NCRโs CASTOs scheduled the review classes for their respective areas months before the scheduled examination dates.
The review classes focus on enhancing the studentsโ knowledge on science, technology, education and mathematics (STEM) including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, as well as English, logical thinking, and verbal and non-verbal reasoning.โฏThe refresher courses also include practice exams, and useful tips and strategies to hurdle competitive examinations.
For the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) Cluster, two days of review sessions were held at the Caloocan Science High School, Malabon City National Science and Mathematics High School, Filemon T. Lizan Senior High School, and at the Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science for 628 students.
For the Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan (PAMAMARISAN) Cluster, a total of 509 students joined the review sessions that were held at the Mandaluyong High School and Rizal High School.โฏ
The Muntinlupa, Taguig, Pateros, Paranaque, Las Piลas (MUNTAPARLAS) Cluster, which holds review classes for a specific city per year, organized a review class for 72 senior high school students from the Schools Division Office of Muntinlupa last March 15-16, 2025 at the Tunasan National High School in Muntinlupa City.โฏ
Finally, 250 aspiring DOST scholars from the Pasay, Makati, Manila, Quezon City (PAMAMAZON) Cluster underwent their own review classes last March 22-23, 2025 in two venues, at the Manila Science High School and the Pasay City National Science High School.
The conduct of review classes not only aligns with the DOST thrust on human well-being, but it also supports the Presidentโs call for the government to set up programs to encourage more students to pursue STEM courses.
