DOST-NCR Conducts Its Final Stakeholders’ Consultation with Quezon City

As part of the initiatives to mainstream Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in their local development process under the Innovation, Science, and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology-based Development (iSTART) Program, the Department of Science and Technology- National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) organized the 4th and final Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting with the Quezon City Local Government last August 2, 2024, at Quezon City Hall.

The activity aimed to develop a prioritized list of programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) that address the STI needs of the city using Technical Screening tools while adhering to the goals and objectives of the City’s economic, social, infrastructural, environmental, and institutional sectors.

The iSTART Program is envisioned to transform the quality of life of its citizens by making Quezon City a scientifically driven, innovative, and sustainable city. Through the program, DOST-NCR aligns its STI-related PPAs with the local development plans of the host Local Government Unit. Plans related to Quezon City’s priority programs such as urban agriculture, waste management, healthcare, and digitalization were all provided an STI lens; these are significant strides taken by the Local Government towards making Quezon City a smart and sustainable city.

The STI Plan for Quezon City is poised to be finalized and launched in the latter part of 2024.
