DOST-NCR, Colegio de Muntinlupa to Stage 2024 Robotics and Emerging Technology Fair

Recognizing the increasingly critical role of robotics and other emerging technologies in the job market and in achieving urban sustainability, the Department of Science and Technology-NCR and the Colegio de Muntinlupa (CDM) are joining forces to stage the 2024 Muntinlupa City Robotics Fair and Exhibits, which will be held from November 20-22, 2024 at the CDM Campus, Mayor J. Posadas Avenue, City of Muntinlupa.

The three-day fair, which is also being done in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO)- Muntinlupa City and the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ), with the year’s theme “Emerging Technologies and Innovations for Inclusive Economic Development & Sustainability,” anchored on DOST’s theme “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan.” Now in its sixth year, the fair provides a platform for students, teachers, and industry leaders to explore the potential of robotics as a driver of sustainable urban development, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.

Packed with activities, the 2024 Muntinlupa City Robotics Fair and Exhibits will have high school and college students from NCR presenting their robotics innovations in the Robotics Exhibits, while junior and senior high school students can engage in the Robotics Cosplay and showcase sustainable robotics technologies through creative costumes made from recycled materials. Non-Competing Exhibits will feature the latest advancements in robotics, with organizations and institutions demonstrating applications in Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, and Internet of Things (IoT). In the 3D-Printing Competition, students will design and fabricate functional robot parts using additive manufacturing, promoting efficient material use and custom solutions. Junior high school students can also join the ScienceQueST Quiz Show, a quiz bee covering trivia in mathematics, science, general knowledge on DOST, sustainability, and the host City of Muntinlupa. The Techno Seminars will provide students, professionals, and industry leaders with valuable insights into the latest advancements in IoT, AI, human-robot interaction, and automation. Webinars, on the other hand, will enable online participants to delve into the various aspects of robotics, from foundational concepts to advanced applications.

There will also be a Workshop where participants will be guided through robotics design, programming, sensors, and automation principles to build essential skills on the technology. Finally, the Research Colloquium will bring together students, researchers, and industry practitioners to share robotics research, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among the experts in the field.

The 2024 Muntinlupa City Robotics Fair and Exhibits provides an excellent opportunity for people from various sectors to appreciate the science of robotics as a powerful tool in achieving sustainability and resilience in urban environments, as well as a vehicle to advance towards Industry 4.0. Events like the Robotics Fair nurture the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers by demystifying advanced technologies, promoting the integration of new technologies in day-to-day living and supporting DOST-NCR’s promotion of Science Beyond Borders.
