DOST-NCR Supports 2022 Disaster Resilience Month Celebration
In celebration of the 2022 National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), the Office of the Civil Defense-NCR (OCD-NCR), in collaboration with the Department of Education-NCR (DepEd-NCR), conducted an On-the-Spot Poster Making and Recycling Contest on 11 July 2022 at the DepEd NCR Office in Quezon City.
Ms. Jan Rose C. Bravo of the DOST-National Capital Region served as one of the members of the Board of Judges along with Mr. Marlon Henson B. Oligado of OCD-NCR, Mr. Kelvin John Gaen of Department of Interior and Local Government-NCR, and Mr. John Jasper O. Forbes of Department of Social Welfare and Development-NCR.
Anchored on this year”’s NDRM theme, “Sambayanang Pilipino, nagkakaisa tungo sa katatagan at maunlad na kinabukasan” , the event showcased students’ creativity and resourcefulness and more importantly, raised awareness on disasters and waste management.
Junior High School and Senior High School students from various schools in Metro Manila joined the competitions. Among the students’ submissions, top ten (10) entries were chosen for the on-the-spot poster making contest, while the top eleven (11) entries for recycling exhibit vied for the top three winners during the final judging.
Top three (3) winners for the On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest were awarded as follows: 1st Place- Akina Yesha Mae Silos from Sto Nino National High School, Paranaque City; 2nd Place- Leira Anya D. Narciso from Canumay East National High School, Valenzuela City; and 3rd Place- Hannah Grace B. Buban from San Juan National High School, San Juan City.
Meanwhile, the top three (3) winners for the Recycling Contest are: 1st Place- Norine Joy Pineda from Commonwealth High School, Quezon City; 2nd Place- Kurt Robert F. Advincula from San Juan City Academic Senior High School, San Juan City; and 3rd Place- John Lloyd O. Catalan from Filimon Lizan National High School, Navotas City. All winners received a cash prize and Certificates of Recognition.
School Division representatives, coaches, parents, and guests also attended the face-to-face event.
