DOST, DMW to Ink MOU on Boosting iFWD PH Program Implementation

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is set to forge a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 25 July 2023 at the DOST Executive Lounge, DOST Compound, Taguig City.

Said MOU Signing is aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH) Program across the regions.

Spearheaded by the DOST, the iFWD PH Program is an initiative that was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic-induced mass repatriation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in 2020. The program aims to provide opportunities for displaced and repatriated OFWs to establish technology-based enterprises in the country.

Under the MOU, DOST and DMW will work together to intensively promote the iFWD PH Program among OFWs and their families; DMW also commits to provide necessary assistance to iFWD PH beneficiaries through the DMW’s existing programs and services. This will also help in reaching more OFWs and build a culture of technopreneurship in the regions.

Set to ink the MOU are DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr. and DMW Secretary Maria Susana V. Ople.
