DOST-NCR Holds Training and Deployment of RxBox to Philippine Heart Center

The DOST-National Capital Region turned over three (3) units of RxBox to the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) in Quezon City on 16 June 2022.

The RxBox, is one of DOST’s innovation efforts for health, with functions such as blood pressure monitor, pulse oxymeter, electrocardiogram, fetal heart monitor, maternal tocometer, and temperature sensor. It is aimed at providing better access to lifesaving health care services in geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities nationwide.

In 2020, DOST-NCR recommended to integrate RxBox in research and development activities as well as in the regular operations of the PHC. Hence, these will be used in the conduct of PHC’s research validation of the RxBox device as a smarter tool for the detection of peripheral artery disease.

DOST-NCR conducts orientation and demonstration on the use of the RxBox.

A training on the proper usage and management of the equipment was also facilitated by the DOST-NCR, in partnership with speakers from the University of the Philippine-National Telehealth Center on 17 June 2022.

Philippine Heart Center Deputy Executive Director of Research Service Dr. Gilbert C. Vilela and Department Manager of Clinical Research, Dr. Maria Teresa Abola joined the deployment and training activities.
