DOST-NCR Partners with Wadhwani Foundation for Technopreneurship, Startup and Enterprise Development for OFWs
The DOST-NCR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last 17 July 2024 with the Wadhwani Foundation for collaborative initiatives in startups and enterprise development that will benefit the agency’s beneficiaries under its Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH) Program, as well as its academic partners exploring course offerings on technopreneurship.
DOST-NCR Regional Director, Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles and Regional Director of Wadhwani Southeast Asia, Mr. Lucrecio D. Delgado, Jr. signed the agreement at the Colegio de Muntinlupa (CDM), paving the way for the iFWD PH program to integrate Wadhwani’s modules into the iFWD PH Implementation Framework. Overseas Filipino Workers who are beneficiaries of the iFWD PH Program can then use the Wadhwani Learning Modules and Online Platforms to aid them in their journey as new ventures and entrepreneurs.
The Wadhwani Foundation aims to accelerate job growth in emerging economies, such as the Philippines, by democratizing technopreneurship and startup development. The Foundation supports aspiring and practicing entrepreneurs, helping them start, survive, and thrive through customized interventions.
On the same day, the Wadhwani Foundation also signed an MOU with the Colegio De Muntinlupa, which was represented by its President, Dr. Teresita C. Fortuna. With its push to offer development in curriculum for its engineering students, CDM seeks to build the capability of their faculty to offer technopreneurship for their engineering students, encouraging them to create startups and tech-based entrepreneurs.
