DOST-NCR Continues to Support Paranaque City’s Livelihood on Waste Recovery Product Development

DOST-NCR personnel conducted a project visit to Paranaque City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) in Brgy. La Huerta, Paranaque City on June 16, 2022.

In 2021, DOST-NCR supported the Livelihood Program of CENRO-Community Relation and Information Division (CRID) through the project titled “Enhancing of the CENRO-Community Relation and Information Division (CRID) Livelihood Program Thru Efficient Waste Recovery Product Development – Making of Upcycled Products with various communities as beneficiaries”.

Through DOST-NCR’s interventions, the group is now able to produce eco-bags, key chains, placemats, pouches, headbands, slippers, canvases, figurines, and other products out of recyclable materials called “Upcycled” products and established stores in La Huerta Public Market and Ayala Mall Manila Bay.

These creations of upcycled products result from community engagement to reduce waste in the sanitary landfill in Paranaque City.
