DOST Launches eSports Bootcamp for Game Developers  

Buoyed by the success of the first Level Up: eSports Game Dev Challenge, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in collaboration with Gridlock-Games, is launching its first-ever eSports Bootcamp this June.   

Dubbed the Power Up: eSports Game Dev Bootcamp, this dynamic learning experience is tailored for students, aspiring developers, and early professionals across the country. Guided by industry experts, the bootcamp will not only expand participants’ creative vision but also equip them with technical tools and knowledge to design innovative, competitive, and purpose-driven games.  

DOST’s support for the growth of the eSports industry goes beyond just fostering the future of Filipino game development. The program aligns with the Department’s mission to promote science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM). Game development is a powerful tool to sharpen STEM proficiency and critical thinking skills essential to drive innovation and build-future ready technopreneurs in the creative industry. Through its Regional Offices, DOST actively identifies and supports local talent, ensuring inclusive opportunities for growth.  

Whether you are just starting out or looking to level up your skills, the bootcamp offers a comprehensive training ground. Participants will master coding and software development fundamentals, gain a solid grasp of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and explore core concepts such as algorithms, data structures, and version control. At the same time, the program will enhance creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving—preparing you to thrive as a Filipino game developer in an evolving digital landscape.
