Connecting Science: DOST-NCR and SCIENCEKONEK Forge Partnership for Science-Driven Solutions

Connecting the gaps of challenges to an innovative solution, Science and Technology made its way to address these impossibilities. A significant milestone was forged on April 10, 2025, DOST National Capital Region headed by Regional Director, Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the youth-led media organization SCIENEKONEK, represented by its founder, Mr. Ralph Lauren T. Abainza. The signing was held at the Philippine Science Highschool Conference Room in Diliman, Quezon City.
In line with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, which promotes collaboration among academe, industry, and government in the R&D, technology, and innovation ecosystem, the MOU was established. Witnessed by Mr. Osric Primo A. Bern Quibot, ARD for Technical Operations Division, DOST-NCR, Mr, Warren Gomez, OIC, CAMANAVA CASTO, DOST -NCR and Mr. Quin A. Cruz, Adviser of SCIENCEKONEK.
This partnership seeks to amplify science communication and public awareness, empower communities through the practical use of science and technology, strengthen capacity-building initiatives, and promote joint research and innovation efforts that address local and national development needs.
DOST-NCR, together with SCIENCEKONEK, serves as a platform that connects science with people from all walks of life. As the regional enabler of science, technology, and innovation (STI)-based solutions, DOST-NCR works closely with communities to make science more accessible, relatable, and impactful.
Through SCIENCEKONEK, this collaboration empowers communities by transforming scientific knowledge into practical, real-world solutions that address local needs. It also fosters inclusive dialogue and partnerships among scientists, educators, policymakers, and the public—positioning science as a vital force for sustainable development and community resilience.
