DOST Provides Inputs to S&T Roadmaps; ROs, Technical Experts, Conclude Roadmapping Journey
The DOST Regional Offices (ROs) gathered comments from the top management to finalize the Science and Technology Roadmaps for nationwide priority industries via a virtual Presentation and Critiquing Session conducted on 24 October 2022.
The DOST-NCR led the Technology Scanning and S&T Roadmapping for Priority Industries / Sectors as one of the projects under the three-part program of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) 2.0; the other two being enhancement of the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Tool, and strengthening of technical consultancy services offered and implemented by the DOST ROs.
The S&T Roadmaps covered a 10-year plan to strengthen the implementation of technology transfer, commercialization, and provision of S&T-based services to address the requirements of the priority industries/sectors under SETUP.
Officials from the DOST Office of the Secretary, Office of the Undersecretary and Assistant Secretary, Service Directors, Council Directors, and Research and Development Institutes provided comments and inputs to improve Draft S&T Roadmaps for eight (8) Philippine Industry priority sectors. These sectors include: Food Processing (coffee and cacao-based products, baked products/ethnic food), Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock (organic agriculture, high-value vegetable), Marine and Aquaculture (seaweeds), Agri machinery/ Farm Implements/ Food Processing Equipment, Tool and Die, Manufacture of Furniture, Jewelry, GHD (Gifts, Hardwares, and Decors), and Creatives (furniture, natural fibers/weaving), Electronics, ICT (Information and Communication Technology), and ICT Services, and Healthcare and Wellness (biomedical devices, pharmaceuticals, herbal drugs, food supplements, and personal care products).
The S&T Roadmaps were a product of a three-part methodology including the situation analysis, technology scanning, and foresighting and roadmapping, conducted with stakeholders from the industry and partner institutions, with inputs gathered and processed by consultants and foresighters from the Worldwide Quality Assurance (WQA) Philippines.
The documents will be the DOST ROs’ strategies in preparing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) towards the realization of Industry 4.0 through the SETUP 4.0.
