DOST-NCR Provides Refresher Training on Food Safety Essentials for Vegan Food Manufacturer

The DOST-National Capital Region, through its PAMAMAZON (Pasay, Manila, Makati, Quezon City) Clustered Area S&T Center, provided a refresher training on Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Awareness for The Superfood Grocer Inc. last 14 January 2022 via Zoom.

The refresher training provided the employees with pertinent knowledge on ensuring food safety against hazards. The discussion focused on the guidelines relevant to ethical business practices and quality assurance system to ascertain that The Superfood Grocer’s products are consistently manufactured, packed, repacked, or held to quality standards appropriate for their intended use.

The training sought to impart the importance of safe food as well as various government initiatives that monitor the compliance of food establishments to recommendatory standards and guidelines on Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.

As advocates of healthy food products, The Superfood Grocer Inc. manufactures plant-based food products and is known among consumers for their product line, which includes superfoods and vegan food options such as dairy-free ice cream, snacks and frozen meals among others.

The DOST-National Capital Region has been assisting The Superfood Grocer Inc. since 2017 through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

The refresher training is held annually to keep the MSME up to date with relevant information on Food Safety and other related regulations.
