DOST-NCR’s STI Celebration Takes Center Stage in BGC

Science is more fun in the Metro!

Take a break and learn about the latest science, technology, and innovation (STI) stories in Metro Manila as the DOST-National Capital Region celebrates its 2023 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) from 30 August to 01 September 2023 at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme, “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay,” which will feature a variety of activities including exhibits, demonstrations, and series of forums on science and technology, and a lot more exciting activities.

STI Sneak Peek!

The event will be officially launched through an Opening Ceremony wherein it will include the signing of Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) with stakeholders, launching and turnover of STI-based projects, and a press conference for media partners.

A new and special segment will be the Stakeholders’ Night where we will recognize partners from the Local Government Units, Regional Line Agencies, Industry, and Academic Institutions, and celebrate DOST-NCR’s achievements through this partnership, inspiring creation of future collaborations.

Aside from interactive exhibits and activities, a series of forums will also be held.

Climate Forward: Igniting Innovation for a Sustainable Future
This forum will discuss the latest climate-related innovations and how they can be used to create a more sustainable future. It will also explore the role of Local Government Units in implementing these innovations.

Structural Integrity Audit Training
This training is intended to teach LGUs how to identify vulnerabilities and potential risks in buildings and other local structures. This will also help them to improve the safety of their communities.

S&T Talk: Fostering a Culture of Innovation
Another segment will highlight ground-breaking research and innovation works of experts from diverse scientific fields and academe. This will help foster a culture of scientific research and innovation among high school and college students in the Region.

TURNING TABLES: Pitching of Industry Needs for Market-Driven R&D and Technology Transfer
Researchers, innovators, academe, and DOST research institutes will gather to listen to the needs of the various industry sector, and thereafter, explore possible R&D and technology transfer solutions.

Innovation Congress: Technology Transfer and S&T Agenda for Metro Manila
This will be participated by members of the Metropolitan Manila Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (MMIEERDC) to discuss R&D initiatives, plans, and S&T agenda in Metro Manila.

HERStory: Forum on Women in Science
A special forum will be held to celebrate the achievements of renowned women scientists and professionals, and to share their knowledge and expertise with the next generation of aspiring women scientists.

The event is expected to be attended by a wide range of stakeholders including Regional Line Agencies, National Government Agencies (NGAs), Local Government Units (LGUs), Industry Associations, MSMEs, Academe, Scientists and Innovators.
