DOST-NCR Presents S&T-based Solutions for MSMEs and Community Enterprises in Business Forum

The DOST-NCR’s MUNTAPARLAS Clustered Area Science & Technology Office (CASTO) presented the DOST’s programs and services for entrepreneurs during the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCI) forum on 30 March 2023 at Casa Aguilar, Las Pinas City which was hosted by PCCI- Las Pinas.

Carrying the theme, “Fire up your Business” , the event aimed to provide, empower, and fuel Las Pinas-based businesses with holistic programs and services that would help energize and upgrade business operations and productivity.

During the event, MUNTAPARLAS CASTO Head Mr. Kim Atienza spoke about the DOST’s flagship programs for MSMEs and community-based enterprises, specifically the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program. He reiterated the DOST-NCR’s unwavering support and commitment to provide well-organized and effective services and S&T-based solutions to address the needs and challenges of entrepreneurs in the region.

Mr. Mark Oliver Espiritu and Ms. Alona Donato, MUNTAPARLAS CASTO’s focal persons for SETUP and CEST respectively, next took the stage to elaborate on the details of the two programs and later entertained inquiries from the panel and forum participants.

The PCCI forum was attended by MSME and community entrepreneurs, as well as industry leaders and stakeholders including DTI-NCR Regional Director Marcelina Alcantara, DTI-NCR Division Chief Ms. Rowena San Jose, PCCI Regional Governor South Sector Ms. Elvie Sanchez Quiazon, PCCI-Las Pinas President Ms. Myra Miranda, and PCCI-Assistant Vice President Ms. Teresa Ngan Tan.
