DOST-NCR Intensifies Campaign on iFWD PH

The DOST-NCR conducted another round of virtual orientation on the Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH Program) with Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as organized by the Development Action for Women Network (DAWN) International and Pambansang Samahan ng Inhenyero Mekanikal (PSIM), both conducted on January 28, 2022.

The DAWN invited repatriated women OFWs to provide them knowledge on the livelihood support opportunities and enterprise development programs offered by national government agencies, including the DOST, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Small Businesses Corporation (SB Corporation). OFWs who are still abroad also joined the webinar.

On the same day, the DOST-NCR also oriented around 600 mechanical engineers about the iFWD PH Program during the chapter meeting of the PSIM.

The implementation of the iFWD PH Program started in 2020 at the height of the CoVID-19 pandemic, aiming to provide opportunities to OFWs who lost their jobs and were forced to come home to the country. As of 2021, 21 OFWs were already provided with innovation funding nationwide.

The DOST Regional Offices are currently preparing for another run of implementation of the iFWD PH Program this 2022.
