DOST-NCR Highlights Stories of Hope During Virtual Kickoff for 2021 NSTW Celebration
The Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region successfully conducted its Virtual Kickoff for the 2021 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) Celebration on November 11, 2021 via Zoom with live simulcast on Facebook.
Anchored on the theme “Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon: Mga Proyektong Pangkalusugan at Pangkabuhayan ng DOST-NCR”, DOST-NCR showcased the stories of inspiration and hope of the communities in Metro Manila assisted through science and technology.
This included the journey of the women-led social enterprise, Southville-3 Homebased Producers Association Inc. (SHBPAI), which triumphed from being reared through the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) to now cooperators of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
The DOST-NCR also featured the story of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from Manila City Jail, which was provided with assistance to upgrade their livelihood through the CEST Program.
Moreover, DOST-NCR launched the output of the Project Supporting Adolescent Growth in the Philippines (SAGIP) conducted by the DOST Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) in collaboration with the 2nd District of Marikina City. DOST-NCR has been providing support to the Project SAGIP since its conceptualization last July 2020 through coordinating meetings and site inspections with agencies involved in the project. In addition to the provision of fund support, DOST-NCR also assisted in the development of materials and monitoring of the implementation of Project SAGIP.
DOST-NCR Regional Director, Jose B. Patalinjug III also shared the several activities lined up in the NCR as part of the 2021 NSTW Celebration which will run from November 12 to 24.
