DOST rolls out new technologies in their comprehensive risk reduction exhibition
Manila, Philippines – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) launches its first major risk reduction and response expo on March 12 to 14 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The event is called HANDA PILIPINAS: Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Expo 2020 featuring relevant technologies from different DOST agencies to help increase public awareness.
HANDA PILIPINAS 2020 is a 3-day event that will showcase the latest machineries and innovations of DOST and its partners through interactive exhibitions and hands-on breakout sessions. On this event, stakeholders are expected to learn about the available innovative tools that will strengthen the capability enhancement of the disaster risk reduction management (DRRM) offices of all the local government units (LGU) in mitigating, preparing and responding to hazards or disasters. The event will be highlighted by breakout sessions that are set to educate the participants on how to acquire, access and use the technologies at the exhibits and discussions about risk reduction.
Some of the participants will be Metro Manila LGUs including the DRRM offices, public information offices (PIO), planning, city social welfare and development (CSWD) offices, health and social welfare offices, barangay disaster risk reduction management (BDRRM) groups, and other city officers. National and regional government agencies are also expected to attend the event side-by-side the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC), some volunteer organizations, non-government organizations (NGO), academes as well as the private sectors.
HANDA PILIPINAS 2020 is set to be the DOST’s major kickoff event this year with more than a thousand anticipated attendees.
