DOST-NCR, DOST-FPRDI Conclude Training on Bamboo Tech for BJMP San Juan PDLs
A total of 15 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology-San Juan Male Dormitory were awarded with Certificates of Completion during the Closing Ceremonies conducted on June 2, 2022 for the Training Series on Bamboo Technologies organized by the DOST-NCR in collaboration with the DOST Forest Products research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI).
The training series conducted from May 16, 17-19 and 23-25, 2022 included topics on Wood and Non-Wood Preservation and Treatment, Bamboo Craft Making, and Resin Lamination and Finishing Techniques. This will provide livelihood opportunities for PDLs and prepare them for their re-entry after serving their time in prison.
Bamboo coin bank, bamboo table lamps, bamboo hanging lamps, bamboo pen holder, and bamboo trays were among the products made by the PDLs.
DOST-NCR Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III, BJMP-NCR Regional Director, BJMP-NCR Regional Director and Jail Chief Superintendent Luisito Munoz, Jail Senior Inspector, Warden Jose Marie Sabeniano, TESDA-NCR Regional Director, Dir. Florencio Sunico, Jr., San Juan City Vice Mayor Warren Villa, and DOST-FPRDI Chief for Technical Serices Division, Dr. Maria Cielto Siladan joined the Closing Ceremonies.
