DOST-NCR's SETUP Adoptors Win in 2021 Productivity Olympics

Four beneficiaries of the Department of Science and Technology-NCR's (DOST-NCR) Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) joined some of the best companies in the region as Regional Winners at the 2021 Productivity Olympics-Pandemic Edition which was held on August 19.

Aretei Foods Corporation, Ideatechs Packaging Corporation, and Compact Pharmaceuticals who competed in the Small-Industry Category, as well as Sunlight Food Corporation who vied for the Medium-Industry Category, were honored for their continued demonstration of resiliency, toughness, and survival efforts amidst the CoVID-19 pandemic to sustain growth and preserve employment in the new normal.

With this year's theme, "Bounce Back Better", the event aimed to recognize and reflect on the rebuilding strategies of selected micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that made them rise above and withstand the impacts of the pandemic.

As a sponsored event of the Department of Labor and Employment-National Wages and Productivity Commission (DOLE-NWPC), and its Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR), each regional winner received priority endorsements to DOLE and NWPC/RTWPB-NCR's productivity trainings, programs, and services; certificates of recognition; cash prizes; and a torch-designed plaque made of high-grade solid glass which symbolizes the "heart" of a productivity champion.

RTWPB-NCR Chairperson Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol described the Productivity Olympics as a celebration of past toughness and resiliency that honors the awardees' commitment to a productive response to the economic impact of the pandemic.

The awarding ceremony was also attended by representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment-NCR (DOLE-NCR), DOST, NWPC senior officials, RTWPB-NCR Board members and Secretariat, and representatives from the different business establishments.

Concluding the event, Mr. Jose Roland A. Moya of the RTWPB-NCR delivered a message of gratitude to the Board and the regional winners for their collaborative effort to foster productivity in the face of economic adversity.

The regional winner will compete in the National Productivity Olympics which will be held by the NWPC on October 21, 2021 in celebration to the Productivity and Quality month.
