RD Patalinjug Welcomes 27 HEIs for DOST-TBI Funding



DOST-NCR Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III graced the opening of the 3-day Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation & Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Proposal Writeshop with the theme, "Drafting Relevant and Impactful Proposal for HEIs Venturing in the Startup Ecosystem (DRIVE)" from September 14-17, 2022, at the Miriam College-Technology Business Incubator (MC-TBI) in Quezon City.

A total of twenty-seven (27) Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), which qualified for funding assistance under the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) HEIRIT Program, attended the writeshop. The HEIRIT Program aims to help Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to meet the requirements of the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) funding and train TBI managers to run their own incubators.

Said Program also supports in the creation of more job opportunities, public and private industry partnerships, and development of S&T-based entrepreneurs from the academic institutions.

Moreover, selected TBI managers from Batangas State University (BSU), QBO Innovation Hub, and Technological Institute of the Philippines-Nurture Innovation Technology Revolution Office (TIP-NITRO) also shared some experiences, discussed few tips and best practices on how to write a TBI proposal.

In the National Capital Region, a total of four (4) HEIs which include the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), and Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC), which are deemed qualified joined the training.

After the training sessions, participating HEIs will present their TBI proposal outputs to the PCIEERD Technical Panel Team wherein the first batch of HEIs to be funded will be selected.
