Empowering Women in NCR thru S&T

Women are inherently strong, resourceful, and creative; and science, technology and innovation empowered women in the National Capital Region to be more inventive and more curious in creating solutions, and providing opportunities for economic and social growth. Women in a Male-Dominated Field Ms. Yolly dela Cruz is the President and CEO of Nisco Phis. Enterprise - a company located in Valenzuela City. Nisco Phils. Ent. fabricates machinery for food processing, and cosmetics and pharmaceutical packaging applications since 1993. Through her leadership, Nisco adopted DOST-developed technologies specifically, machineries for food innovation such as vacuum frying machine, freeze drying machine, modular water retort, and spray dryer. Nisco is also a beneficiary of the DOST's Small Enterprise Technology upgrading Program (SETUP). With Ms. Yolly's hardwork and passion, her S&T-based company continues to thrive here and abroad.



Women using Science for Creative Industries Ms. Ronalin L. Adolfo is the founder and owner of Oweavers Mill Fabrics Manufacturing located in Tipas, Taguig City. The company, as a social enterprise, aims to utilize Philippine indigenous materials for the sustainable manufacture of fabric and create innovative fusion of natural textiles and garments. She is an Overseas Filipino Worker, a makabagong bayani who exemplifies endurance, strength, passion, and excellence at what she does as marketing expert in Dubai. Oweavers is a beneficiary of the DOST's innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH) Program in the National Capital Region. As a woman-led enterprise comprising also of 80% women staff, Ms. Adolfo believes in the capability of women to lead, innovate, and nurture, and that women can thrive excellently in this world.


Women Empowering Communities Ms. Rizalina Watson Teope is the Brgy. Chairwoman of Barangay Fortune, Marikina City. The community is one of the beneficiaries of DOST's Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program since 2021. Through her initiative, theKababaihang Maabilidad at Organisado (KAMAO), Inc. was created with the objective of providing livelihood opportunities to women constituents in the Barangay. KAMAO Inc., is a registered organization under the Securities and Exchange Commission since September 13, 2012 and it comprises more than 700 women members. The organization also supports the other activities being carried out by the Barangay such as breast milk banks and community pantries


Women in Finding Solutions thru S&T Dr. Abigail Cid-Andres is a Balik Scientist, and now an Associate Professor and researcher at the Department of Physical Sciences of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. She is the Program Leader of the Effective Network for a Viable institutionalized technology woth Environmental Compliance Standards (ENVITECS). ENVITECS is a Niche Centers in the Regions for R&D (NICER) project, a Center for Environmental Technologies and Compliance funded and supported under the DOST's Science for Change Program. Together with her team, the ENVITECS developed technological solutions that can be used by the industry sector for effective waste management.
