DOST-NCR Unveils More S&T Programs in 2022 through 'Pandesal' Forum

06 May 2022 - DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Pena graced this year's first ever face-to-face event of the DOST-National Capital Region. Dubbed as "TeknoKwentuhan: Ano ang Latest?", the event featured a montage of DOST-NCR's accomplishments in 2021, industry-academe-government collaboration, and its projects and activities for this year as discussed by DOST-NCR Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III.

Guests also tackled the DOST's milestones for the past six (6) years, during the term of Secretary de la Pena. The discussion served as an avenue to promote how the science community can further help the industries and communities in the country.

Furthermore, the Secretary released an official report on the recently concluded DOST-COMELEC Electoral Board (EB) Certification Program in which the DOST certified a total of 197,077 teachers who will serve as EB members for the 2022 National and Local Elections on May 9.

The EB Certification Program is pursuant to RA 9369 or the Amended Automated Election Law which mandates the DOST to certify at least one of the members of the EB to be an information technology-capable person to use the Automated Election System during the Election Day.

DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, Entrepinoy Volunteers Foundation Inc. Trustee, Ms. Maria Ester Follosco-Bautista, DOST-STII Director, Dir. Richard Burgos, Pandesal Forum Moderator, Mr. Wilson Flores, and Technological Institute of the Philippines' R&D Director, Dr. Drandreb Earl Juanico joined the TeknoKwentuhan.

The event was held at the 83-year old Kamuning Bakery Cafe in Quezon City.
