DOST-NCR Deploys STARBOOKS to Schools in North Caloocan

The DOST-NCR, through its Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) Clustered Area Science and Technology Office, turned over three (3) units of Science and Technology Academically Research-based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) to selected schools in District 1, North Caloocan City on 20 January 2023.

The units were deployed to Bagong Barrio Elementary School, Bagong Barrio National High School, and Bagong Silang Elementary School. This initiative was aimed at raising the level of students' aptitude in science and mathematics, and recognize its impact to schools in Caloocan who have limited or no access to science and technology (S&T)-based information resources.

The STARBOOKS enables browsing of scientific journals, books, and other S&T resources even in the absence of internet connection, empowering students and teachers to use additional resources for application in different learning areas.

The DOST-NCR continues to deploy STARBOOKS and train teachers and school administrators totaling to 238 units distributed, and 207 school recipients to date.
