DOST-NCR’s technical experts engaged with stakeholders and gave free technical consultancies, mainly on food safety and its programs for MSMEs during PROPAK Philippines 2025, which was held from February 12-14, 2025, at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. The event is a major annual platform that features cutting-edge technologies and modern approaches in food processing and packaging, as well as opportunities for collaboration among industry leaders, investors, and innovators.
As part of its commitment to advancing sustainability in the food and packaging industries, DOST-NCR also highlighted its initiatives aimed at enabling MSMEs to comply with industry cleaner production standards. The event provided a valuable opportunity to present innovative solutions to industry problems using science, technology, and innovation (STI).
Throughout the three-day expo, DOST-NCR staff actively engaged with businesses, students, government agencies, and visitors, addressing inquiries related to collaborations, technical assistance, and business development. The Food Safety Training and Consultancy program garnered significant interest, with many attendees seeking guidance on process and ingredient optimization, shelf-life extension, and best practices in food safety, including Halal food safety training and packaging regulations. Visitors also expressed interest in DOST-NCR’s flagship programs such as the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH), both of which provide crucial support for entrepreneurs who are looking to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of their companies.
The final day of PROPAK Philippines 2025 featured a seminar attended by entrepreneurs from various regions and cities. DOST-NCR’s Carlos Antonio M. Peña shared insights on solutions and opportunities for the Philippine packaging industry, emphasizing the role of innovation in driving competitiveness. Engr. Ericson T.
