The Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region, through its four S&T clustered areas, recently initiated activities to make classrooms in selected elementary and high schools in the region conducive to learning in time for the new school year.

Partner schools were chosen, within the barangays, which have been previously assisted by DOST-NCR through its Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program. For the first time in DOST-NCR’s history, each clustered area was tasked to conduct similar activities in support of the Brigada Eskwela 2019 program.  Selected school recipients included the C.M. Recto High School (Main and Annex), Palanan Elementary School, and Zamora Elementary School for the PAMAMAZON cluster; CAA National High School for MUNTAPARLAS; Catmon Integrated School for CAMANAVA; and, the Pinagbuhatan Elementary School for PAMAMARISAN.

Employees are a company's greatest asset to achieve its business objectives. One of the best ways to retain staff and maximize their productivity is by creating a safe work environment for them. Every industry presents various kinds of safety hazards to its employees. The gamut of possible occupational safety hazards ranges from mild, immediate physical to severe dangers such as body strains, fire, and explosion. To ensure that a company gets the best out of their employees, it is crucial to provide knowledge on maintaining the physical and mental health and social well-being of workers through lessening/preventing unfavorable effects caused by working conditions.

Summer is here and it is once again fire prevention month. Numerous fire safety campaigns are being conducted every day in offices, schools, and local communities, all aiming to raise awareness and promote a safer environment for everyone.

Last March 14, 2019, the City Government of Malabon through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Malabon DRRMO) conducted the “DRR Caravan” for the fourth consecutive year at the Malabon City Amphitheater and Oreta Sports Center. The program engaged school children of Malabon, along with their parents and teachers, in raising awareness on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Although conducted in March in observance of the Fire Prevention Month, the program did not just focus on increasing the participants’ preparedness and understanding on fire hazards, but also with other potential hazards that may occur such typhoons, flashfloods, earthquakes, tsunamis, among others.
