Halal Industry Takes Center Stage at Halal Expo Philippines 2024 

The Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) participated in the Halal Expo Philippines 2024, held from November 14 to 16, 2024 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. This significant event served as a pivotal gateway to the burgeoning Halal industry within the ASEAN region. 

Halal Expo Philippines 2024 highlighted its role as a premier platform that connects businesses and consumers, driving innovation and collaboration in the Philippine Halal market. The expo provided an unparalleled opportunity for networking, uncovering market trends, and harnessing the expansive potential of the Halal sector.  

DOST-NCR’s participation was complemented by the active involvement of other DOST Regional Offices, including DOST-XI, DOST-CALABARZON, DOST IX, DOST-Caraga, DOST-XII, DOST-PTRI and DOST-ITDI. Their collective presence underscored a unified commitment to advancing the Halal industry through shared expertise, resources, and innovative projects.  

Attendees were immersed in a variety of engaging activities, including conferences and seminars that explored the global Halal industry—deeply rooted in Islamic culture and traditions, and compliant with Sharī’ah (Islamic law). A standout feature was the Halal awareness workshop, covering crucial subjects such as the significance of Halal certification, best practices for the food industry, Halal-compliant food services and tourism, research and development for Halal food and cosmetics, and innovative concepts like Halal assurance. Attendees also examined the application of blockchain technology for transparent Halal traceability, demonstrating cutting-edge solutions in the field.  

A highlight of the expo was the live cooking demonstration, featuring  Halal culinary practices and showcasing authentic, compliant dishes. The expo also presented a Modest Fashion Show that celebrated the artistry and heritage of Islamic fabrics and designs, underscoring the rich cultural dimension of the Halal industry.  

Halal Expo Philippines 2024 emphasized the rapid expansion and transformative impact of the Halal industry in the Philippines. More than just an event, the expo represented a movement committed to the advancement of the Halal sector, fostering an environment where industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts could collaborate, share expertise, and propel the industry forward.
