Taking a Scientific Dive into Filipino Heritage
PamanaAgham, a groundbreaking event that blends the Filipino words “Pamana” (heritage) and “Agham” (science), is a testament to the Filipino people’s commitment to preserving their cultural traditions while also embracing scientific progress.
The event will kick off with an Opening Ceremony featuring the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Tourism and the Intramuros Administration, as well as the launch of several collaboration projects.
In addition to showcasing DOST-developed technologies, visitors can also enjoy a guided tour of Fort Santiago dubbed as “Science in the Past,” as well as a bazaar featuring DOST-assisted MSMEs and community-based enterprises that produce heritage food and handicrafts.
One of the highlights of this event is the forum titled, AghamMoBa? Flavors of the Past: A Journey into the Philippine Heritage. This will discuss the fusion of science, technology, culture, and history by exploring relevant technologies that can promote art and tourism while preserving cultural heritage.
Another is the film showing activity HISTORYa: A Cinematic Exploration of Filipino History and Heritage which will provide participants with an immersive and educational experience that delves into the rich tapestry of Filipino history and heritage through a series of stories depicting the Philippines’ cultural diversity, historical struggles, and remarkable achievements.
KOOHA Ko: Capturing History in a Lens is a photography challenge that will help participants improve their mobile photography skills using DOST-ASTI’s KOOHA Technology application. This will encourage participants to explore the rich historical tapestry of Intramuros and capture its timeless charm and cultural heritage.
