Brown rice, though widely known to be a rich source of vitamins and nutrients, has yet to be a common fare in the Filipinos’ dining tables. In fact, most Filipinos are more familiar with brown rice’s less endearing qualities than its nutritional value.
This gap prompted the DOST-National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) to conduct an Awareness Seminar on the Health Benefits of Brown Rice last May 7, 2015 at the MIRDC Conference Room in Bicutan, Taguig City. Organized in partnership with the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), the seminar gathered nutritionists, food handlers, and food servers in Metro Manila.
