Continuing a proud tradition, inventors from the National Capital Region again won top prizes in this year’s National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) which was held last July 31, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center.
A bi-annual competition organized by the Department of Science and Technology’s Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), NICE not only implements RA 7459 which seeks to assist Filipino inventors, but also encourages research and creativity among student and professional researchers and inventors.
NICE is also a competition among the bests as the finalists are already all winners in their own rights in their respective regions in the following categories: Invention Category (Tuklas Award), Utility Model Category, Industrial Design Category, Creative Research Category (Likha Award), and Student Creative Research Category (Sibol Award) for both High School and College levels.
The winners for each category were selected based on the invention’s commercial viability, presentation and demonstration, uniqueness, and degree of development, among others.
